June Benefit Screening of Serenity Is Set!

As of today, Minneapolis, MN just went solid with a screening date, time, and place.

I'm pleased to announce that Riverview Theater in Minneapolis, MN will be hosting the Serenity Now Equality Now benefit screening of Serenity on Saturday June 23 at 11:30 pm. Tickets and other details TBA. Watch www.mnfirefly.com for updates and details as they become available.

There isn't a shortage of jobs to do at the day of the screening and work prior to the screening, so it isn't too early to volunteer to help. =)

2007 Serenity Benefit Screening Date Survey

It is very near the time for us to schedule a date to screen Serenity in June to benefit Equality Now, an international women's rights organization.

Last year the screening was held on Thursday June 22, 9:30 pm at Riverview Theater and had an attendance of 413, raising $2,015 for Equality Now. This was in response to the global effort known as Can't Stop The Serenity, as described at www.cantstoptheserenity.com. The target date of June 23rd was chosen to acknowledge Joss Whedon's birthday and show our appreciation by raising money for his favorite charity, Equality Now. The global screenings donations totalled more than $63,000.

We had so much fun doing it last year, we're doing it again.

A global event. Wish it involved our favorite other solar system...oh wait it does. And it is only January. Hmmm, what other news have I seen lately. Just in case you didn't know. Drive will premiere in a two-night, three-hour event on Sunday, April 15 @ 8PM and Monday, April 16 @ 8PM. CSTS Poster & T shirt Art ~Vote!~

The four finalists for the design of the 2007 CSTS promo materials
(including primary flyers and the t-shirts) are now up for voting at
http://www.cantstop theserenity. com/2007design . Please take a good,
hard look at all four, and vote ONCE for your favorite. Voting will
be open to the public until 7:00 pm (GMT-6) on Friday, 15 December
2006.

The artist who submitted the winning design will get three t-shirts
with their logo (sizes of their choosing), and a framed flyer from the
national event press push.

Names of the artists will be revealed along with the winner after the
conclusion of voting, on Saturday, 16 December.

Message from SF Browncoats- Operation Backup Bash

Morning, folks. Just wanted to give you an update on our plans to
create an alternate fan experience in the event Flanvention II falls
through.

First, we now have a name for this shindig. We're calling it the
Browncoats' Backup Bash. We thought that kind of covered all the
bases :) We've even set up a new e-mail address. If you have
questions, you can e-mail us at

Second, plans are proceeding on making this as exciting an event as
possible on such short notice. We're working out a schedule of
potential events and activities as we speak. We are in touch with
the hotel to try to work out meeting space, and as has been
mentioned previously, they will honor the previously negotiated
group rate for anyone who has a reservation. We've also talked with
a bunch of the vendors who were planning to be there, and most have
said they're interested in still attending even if Flan falls
through.

Finally, we are working on contacting the actors to see if they'll
be willing to attend as well. I can't stress this enough: we can't
make any guarantees, especially at this late date, but you have our
word that we will try our hardest to make it happen.

On the topic of contacting the Big Damn Heroes, I have a request. We
have very good contact info for all the actors and other celebs, so
please let us make these calls. The last thing any of us want is for
the actors or Joss to get a ton of phone calls and e-mails and get
so frustrated they just decide to back out.

Our main hope is that Booster comes through and Flan goes off
without a hitch, making these preparations unnecessary. But if it
does fall through, we hope everyone who had a ticket to Flan will
consider still coming and enjoying the Browncoats' Backup Bash!
